I have a 17 week old GSD, his ears were up, but are starting to fall a little, especially his left one. It's just mainly the tip of the left one that is coming back down. Is this something I need to worry about and need to fix or is it simply a part of the growing process???
If they go up once they will eventually stay up. Just enjoy that adorable floppy one day, up the next, ear stage before they go up forever <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. Take lots of pictures!! I remember being stressed about that with my first GSD. Nothing to worry about.
He's teething, they go down then up, then teepee, then airplane, alternating one winged, but when all the teeth are in, back up. BTW old wives say what they weigh @ 16 wks, they'll be 2x full grown. No worries, if they were up, they'll be up. see: http://mywebpages.comcast.net/ranidog
No worries! My male did not have both his ears completely up until 12 months!! They are solid now but I was very worrried as I know at this age it is rare. You're good though. They will indeed go back up.
I have a 10 month old male whose ears were up when I got him, but have drooped back down half way , he puts them up when he alerts or some times he just has one ear up. Vet says not to worry as he has big ears and they will be up by the time he is a year old. If you are not feeding him food with a good supply of calcium in it, then that might be the problem. Pet calc and lowfat vanilla yogurt is also good for the ears . Wish you luck!
I would actually suggest supporting these ears even at this age, big ears or not. I became a "pro" at gluing/taping ears up and taped until 12 months. I really do not think that any food supplement really works. I always felt better supporting the ears anyways. Just my 2 cents. My boys sire had his ears taped until 11 months so it was "in the family".
