I wondering if anyone has any training advice around door manners for a Giant. My Giant is just over a year. Whenever the door bell rings she goes nuts! Barking, growling and jumping at the door. I'm currently in the beginning stages of marker training her with the help of Ed's Basic Obedience DVD, to which she's responding wonderfully.
Any advice would be appriciated, I would really like to get a handle on this before Halloween!
im wondering is that how all giants are? i have one he is 9 months old he does the exact same thing. in fact before i had him when i went to the breeder and she had a door were the top half is glass and once i rung the door bell her giant went berserk and nearly jump at the door and nearly through the glass. i know that they are extremly territioral im interested in knowing also about that.
The big hint for what giant they're talking about is to notice what thread/ area the post is in, like:
"Protection Breeds of Dogs"
and then
"Giant Schnauzer"
No problem, it takes a while to be able to navigate some forums due to their set up. Once you learn the in's and out's of this board, it's an easy one to use! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Hey Will I see that you're a dog trainer from your profile. Any comments about my original post? I got all excited to see that there was so many responses, but it turns out it was all about how the forum works!
Kelly,
We talked about this problem in a thread just about a month ago. I'll post a link to it here, but you'll always find it to your advantage to use the "search" function to review posts to see if your question has been answered in the past.
Thanks for the direciton Will, the forum is so big, I find it daunting to navigate at times.
Robert
I'm ok with her response but I needn to be able to stop it when I say. I'm looking for direction around how best to accomplish this. Do I use a down command? Or teach her an "enough" command? That's more my question.
