Again, the South gets tested. All of us know how tough, resilient, brave, and collaborative people from the South are. To all those that await Rita, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
If you have not done so already, remember to donate CASH...as much as you can spare. Groups led by US Citizens are spearheading fund raising efforts for the Red Cross...all around the globe.
Solidarity is key here...call the RED CROSS and donate over the phone. A couple of bucks don't hurt, and they sure do add up quickly and enable a wholotta HELP.
Sometime back, Ed advised re videotaping one's home and possessions...this is something to remember now.

Good points, Andres, and also, if you have a favorite disaster-aid org, they need calling cards (prepaid phone cards) because they still have very unreliable cell service in the hurricane area.
Noah's Wish and the LA SPCA and others who email updates almost daily to their organizers and supporters mention gasoline cards, phone cards, and Home Depot or Lowe's cards all the time.
However, these donations do require a little more bookkeeping to keep the tax records for your deduction. I personally like them, though, and have been collecting them from my poor sick-of-me friends and business associates and neighbors and sending them to the orgs I admire most.
Andres mentions that a couple of bucks won't hurt, and will help, and he is so correct. Many of the orgs slogging through the muck down there get most of their funds from small individual donations. $5 donations are not snickered at.
Thanks for the prayers Andres and everyone else! I am in south east Texas and am in the projected path We are a ways off the coast but are planning to get hit pretty good. Thanks again!!
Well Beaumont got hit hard but it looks like Lake Charles got it even worse. I am in Austin at a friends house and we are awaiting word when we can return.
The dogs are at Triple Crown (talk about a great facility) and I figured I would just go ahead and get them trained there since they will be spending the next few weeks there anyway. Well I hope everyone from Texas and Lousianna did okay.
