EXCELLENT! outcome to a tragic begining. Thats why I love the LAPD they don't pay much attention to political correctness (for the most part) You kill a police dog you should be shot just as if you shot a human police officer. 2 thumbs plus a big toe up to the LAPD who made this guy pay in a "HAIL OF GUNFIRE".
I agree Chris - one dead puke is not worth a polcie dog though. It's too bad make you wonder what goes on in the head of people who do this - probably drugs.

I had to copy and paste the whole URL into the browser's address line.....FYI to anyone who may have trouble clicking on the URL.
This line summed it up well, I thought:
QUOTE: "He's told that if he does not surrender, a police dog will be sent in and he will be bit. He does not respond. We deploy the dog. He shoots the dog. As soon as he fires, the officers on scene responded in kind and fired on him," Cannan said.
"They fired in response to being fired upon, knowing he had already fired at officers." END
Having watched the video of the news report on that site I was somewhat, uhm, irritated might be the word, to the phrasing of the reporters question about the officer crying and asking the (sgt?) "Do you understand that?" as if it's so hard to believe that someone can get close to their working dog.

The reporter was unable to understand the officer's tears? Is that what you're saying?! (I didn't see a video -- only the print story.)
I have very little law enforcement experience and I don't mean to second guess the tough job the LAPD has, but sending the K9 in after the $hathead that's already popping off rounds at you, does not rate the courtesy of a bite. I hope they deployed the dog in hopes of a more tactical advantage and not because they were worried about lawsuits and bad press
