Ok, I have my puppy tied out in a harness on a bungee, I crank her up after the tug and she gives be a good bite, and I fight her a bit and release the tug. She mouths it for a sec and drops it, so I kick it away. the first time I did this she grabbed my pant leg and I didn't do any thing. The second time I did this she she nipped me on the arse. the question is, does she get a pass for me being so damn slow or is some sort of correction in order? She's six months old and normaly when I take stuff from her at home there isn't a problem.
Seriously though, if she is backtied, you should be able to get it away without turning your back on her unless I am misunderstanding the sequence of events.
She's getting faster, I'm going to try putting a lanyard on it and pull it way. I just can't run up there fast enough, give it my best "foosbol" kick and get away. too old too fat. No correction then?
I wouldn't correct for it. It is not unusual to see this type of thing happen with some dogs. They are so high in drive they lose their little pea brains for a second and go for whatever is moving.
Dennis,
I gotta one up ya The link below is from ASR training today with Will's club and my buddies. For the record yes, I am very good at slipping bites. With the dog in question it is very difficult to slip bites, he literally swallows the material until he finds your body. This was also through a top of the line demanet. I also believe some of that may have been from Fetz also, he got me real good today in the same spot so who knows, but today was one helluva training day let me tell ya. Now for the fun part, I'm about to hit the shower, now if only I could voice record it and place that in a link, I think I would be able to add to some of you's enjoyment. You know as an ASR decoy maybe I should get my arms insured http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v679/cjduhon/100_0522.jpg
Hell Chris, you got it worse through a suit than I did when my new guy tried to challenge me the other day! I bet you're sore, take a good shower and have a nice tug on the old JD medicine, you'll be alright, or...
maybe you should get faster!
Mod's correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's allowed to link to photos, the rules are there to keep the board streamlined for those with slower connections. So no placing pic’s in posts but a link should be fine. This way those of us that don’t want to see your butt bruises have the option,
