I was talking with someone and asked if they would breed their black/tan to a sable and they replied, "No". They said it was because if you breed your black/tan once to a sable then your future breedings of black/tan to black/tan will either have sable markings or they will no longer have a defined saddle. Is this true?
I can't imagine that if you only bred once with a sable and had sable puppies and after that bred with a black/tan it would ruin your possiblities of having all black/tan puppies.
I didn't think people still believed in that crap. You could breed a bulldog to a greyhound and any later litters from a greyhound/greyhound breeding will have nothing to do with the original breeding. Personally, I think the best thing you can do with a black and tan is breed it to a sable.
