just wanted to post this b/c I am really upset, and needed to vent. My mom's boyfriend got upset because their 1 1/2 year old lab that was living with them on their farm chewed up something by the house. Sooo...he actually had the audacity to take this dog 80 miles away and dump him in the country!! I found the dog in the country several months ago and gave him to my mom...when I found him he looked as though he had already been dumped off, he was very skinny, with ticks sores all over him!! I am just so upset about this, I could've found another place for him to leave, or worst case scenario, he could've taken him to the humane society!!! Now I've been out in Nebraska farmland looking for him, with no luck so far!
Have you thought about offering him a choice? Leave (for good) or you could find sugar in your gas, flat tires, dog shit in your lunch, a child molesters sign on your door, and that would all happen on the fiurst day he chose to stay.
If this guy will dump a dog that does not even belong to him, do you think he is safe to be around your Mom? Has she acquired any suspicious bruises, cuts, broken bones lately? The dog dumping is bad enough, but I'd be more worried about your Mom.

My mom is already in the process of taking care of that! She hasnt talked to him since it happened, and had to find out from his son where he said he dumped him off so we knew where to start looking....The jerk even made sure to take his collar off with the rabies/address tags on him so it would be even more difficult for us to find him or for him to make his way back to us! The Sheriff's dept. here will be making a visit to him soon, and he doesn't even want to deal with me right now, I'd probably lose my job over it!
If I lived anywhere near you I'd help you look. I'm also pretty sure I'd go straight to jail (assuming they could prove anything) if anyone even tried to do that to my dog. I hope you find him, good luck!
Does this violate any animal cruelty laws? Do be careful being this upset around this man, just heard of another incident where a 12 year old boy called his neighbors dog to him through their connecting back yard fence, stuck the dog w/ a cattle prod as the owner watched, the owner lost his temper with the boy and ended up in jail...not sure if it is the same for an adult but be careful all the same..good luck to you. This is a heart breaking story.....

Damn skippy! When I was 12 I damn well knew not to stick dogs with a cattle prod, that kid got what he deserved. What is wrong with these people.
