Hi All,
Ok I'm not out to make my german shepherd mean or anything, but I do want to make her dislike strangers. She is 6 months old, and I'm working on training her...its taking lots of patience. I basically want her to be friendly with the family, but hostile enough towards strangers that if someone tried to come and take her or hurt her, she'd take them. At this point, the only thing she'd do is lick them to death. What can I do to get her to become less friendly to starngers??? We live in a neighborhood that is bad for crime, break ins, and dog thefts, and I like to have her a little aggressive for her own safety, but also to help warn the family of intruders in the yard/house. I DO NOT leave her outside at night, she sleeps in my bedroom in a kennel (and yes, she snores, hehe). Any tips would be appreciated.

You can't do the type of training that would achieve your goals for about another year or so.
The dog is a still a puppy and should be treated as such. You might find that as the pup matures, the behaviors you are looking for will start to show on their own.
Asking the dog to be protective right now would be like asking a 10 year old child to protect you.
Wait till the dog is about 18-24 months old and then you can do some simple civil training to teach the dog to bark aggressively at strangers that approach the home.
