Just wanted y'all to know that based on your conversation awhile back (July 2001 Lauren, Kali, and Caniche)(I'm a new member and just read it) that I decided to try the Blackwood. I ordered it Friday and it arrived today, Wednesday, and I'm anxious to see if the dogs prefer it over the Iams (have been bercoming quite displeased with their product. IMHO it appears that their quality has gone down considerably) Just wanted to let y'all know that someone found your conversation beneficial even if you were "off topic" <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
If you can, answer a question for me Doesn't Blackwood use all human grade ingredients? I couldn't find it anywhere on the bag but thought I remembered reading/hearing it.

I don't remember if it is all human grade ingredients or not <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> . It does say in the printed material that it is holistic (or that they followed holistic principles in formulating it, something along those lines).

Blackwood, black ball, blackhead - :-) The bottom line is that there is NO commercial food worth a hoot. When you can buy chiken at Walmart for 45 cents a pound - how can anyone consider commercial junk food.
I have only heard one acceptable excuse for not feeding a total all-natural diet and I can't repeat it. If I did everyone would jump on the wagon and I wouldn't be able to whine about how foolish feeding <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> commercail dog is.

Gee Guys I really opened up the proverbial can of worms on this one didn't I? I'm sure feeding the all natural diet is better. I'm just curious tho... Do any of y'all raise the chickens yourself so you know exactly what your dog is getting or are the steroid raised ones from Wal-Mart acceptable?
Any of you other commercial dog food feeders please feel free to lend me a hand here? I'm feeling a bit outnumbered.

Yes........I'll admit again I do feed my dog commercial dog food. Wellness by Old Mother Hubbard. More for convenience (okay laziness :rolleyes: for all you sticklers out there!). BUT.....every day he also gets raw or slightly cooked meat, fish, fruit or vegetables, nuts or dairy, grains and legumes in any combination with or without kibble. He'll eat anything. Last night he had bean salad, sirloin and broccoli. With strawberries and golden pineapple for desert.
I am the first to admit that even a big$$$ premium pet food is still a processed food. Maybe I'll go completely all-natural with my next dog. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />
