He's not trying to get him to jump on the hood. It appears he is taking a cover position with his weapon drawn and the dog is not remaining calm as he should in the situation or possible he is showing some negative signs to the gun. The handler is doing an alpha roll which would not be my first choice in this situation. Good way to get bit.

Some days you're the dog, and some days you're the hydrant.
I would like to hear Will's opinion on the video. I couldn't hear the audio on my laptop so, I'll watch it again when I get home. I'm new to working dogs but the handler looked piss poor to me. I don't see the need for that type of correction. I could understand that level of correction if the dog tried to bite him.
My opinion? I think the officer *was* trying to get the dog to go onto the hood of the car ( notice the green bite roll that starts in the handlers right hand in an attempt to coax the dog up? )
The handler got frustrated and stupidly took out his failures on the dog. If I had been present during that training it would have stopped immediately and I would have a long talk with the handlerer to include a strong consideration for transfer out of the K9 unit, not to mention a letter of reprimand.
Totally uncalled for, totally unprofessional, and I'm totally pissed off watching it.
Looks like the dog is getting excited or going after the handler every time he goes for his weapon. I wouldn't want my patrol dog going after my hand every time I had to draw my weapon. Just my observation.
On the video site there's a second video to watch, which is just the same video but without the music - you can hear the handler's commands and the dog's distress and some helpful "trainer" giving instruction in the background.
Believe me, it's a lot worse when you can hear all that.
I played it several times to make sure that the handler wasn't placing a firearm on the care hood, but it sure looked like a bite roll to me from the shape and color.

I just looked again and yeah i get peed off too watching it. He sure has something in his right hand.........seems to be two things on the hood and one looks like a roll. I still think the dog was meant to be up on the hood. The apha roll doesnt seem to be working out too good either Enough said on this one!
