My 18 week GSD has one up ear and one down ear (really flat). I read the article on taping the ears but it did not adddress taping just one ear. I did that yesterday to the left ear and the ear is hanging very far to the left side of the pups head. Do I need to tape both so that I can support the droopy one. I don't want to screw this up....thanks
well, i never taped just one ear, but when one of my dobes ears was weaker than the other i would just tape them both, wouldnt do any harm.
actually what you could do is tape the weak one as you would then just tape the brace around the base of the other ear to hold it up.
Hi bonsai
I think I'll run into the same problem with my GSD pup. It is now 4 month and one ear is not up yet. Did the tape help?
At what age should the ears be up. I know that during teething the ears may come down again. Is there a chance that the one that hasn't been up will make it after teething?
Does anyone know when it's too late to try and brace an ear to stand up? I have a 13month old GSD that has one up an one down.....looks terrible and i dont want to have an ear that holds moisture and causes infections. I have a cross breed that had and ear injury to the outer area and now it is down it is so prone to infection its not funny....especially for the poor dog!
