What is the point of feeding a "dog" (read as opportunistic carnivore)a 100% veggie diet. Sounds stupid to me. Anybody have any hard evidence that it can be done while still maintaining optimum health?
I know of a couple dogs that have protein allergies and can't eat meat and must eat vegetarian. I think some breeds are more prone to this than others, Dals I think (?), and I knew of a GSD who also had this problem. There are several commercial vegetarian foods for allergic dogs on the market now.
Why? I think because it's new, or cool to the public. New ideas sell. They always will, and this will too.
Tree huggers will jump on this like you couldn't imagine. I bet West Hollywood will soon start having "dog restaurants" that sell it.
Why do vegetarians and anti-hunters so desperately try to protest while shopping for their favorite leather shoes or jacket????
Why do people think you can stop violence by throwing all the guns in the ocean????? LOL!
In reference to Laureen's statement, maybe that could help in some cases. In general though this is new way to get into organic veggie eaters type pet owners to buy this. At the same time though I can't see how that many people would buy this. There's not that many people that are anti-meat or anti-factory food. I would think?
Basically they say its possible, with supplements, and the dog can live, but other then that I got the feeling that the only reason someone would feed a there dog a veggie diet is if they felt killing animals is wrong.
