The information is sketchy as it often is in news reports.
We saw this at the worlds trade center on S&R dogs too.
I am not sure about this one...I've sat and watched cameras on robots in situations and it was really hard to tell what was going on and the robots get shot all the time.
I can't imagine trying to observe as a dog with good drive bounds about in search of someone.
At least here i this country it would just get used to second guess decisions made in critical incidents.
It has always been my contention that the more crap I encomber a dog with the less effective they are, but it is not possible to tell if camera work is all these guys do or if they actuall engage and fight bad guys if necessary.
Great, <<Best Dr. Evil Voice>> Dogs, with freakin Laser Beams attached to their freakin heads, Honestly people was this so hard, huh, remind me what I pay your people for ehh!
I didn't see the video. One of our dogs training is almost 7 months old and is being trained to search off leash. She did a good seach two days ago at a conservation area. A hunting club bumps up to one side of the area and the rest is for mountain biking and skiing. We call it the summit. Bella was sent from about one mile in the bush to track. After her handler kept up with her as close as possible, Bella ended up finding three conservation officers (who knew ahead of time). She did her job great. She checked out all three. Never allowing any physical contact. One man grabbed out at her flank and she turned fast and bit the padded coat arm. Lucky these guys are wearing very heavily padded work clothing for the weather out here. We have about two feet of snow right now. She did her job well and circled the men continuously until the handler caught up and retrieved her. That is her job. To seek and find on command. She is doing great article finds, no tampering with the articles. And she is really excelling in people searches. This will never be a police dog, so there is no worry of her being shot, she is strictly for conservation and natural resources work. Although, we have to calm down her reaction to bite so she never bites an innocent person who reaches for her. Normally she keep her distance well to prevent capture. But this man was fast and got her good.
