I'm so relating to Will's words of wisdom right now....MOVE SOUTH. I have searched for Ed's video covering the "I don't want to GO outside when it's cold as hell" training. My older dog (goin on 8) has decided he's not GOING until it warms up.....this dog is gonna explode??????? I am with him at all times in the house, or he's in his crate. I offer him the outside as often as he will tolerate...he goes outside, then heads back in.....sorry I am laughing at myself right now. Anyone else having this problem with the fridged temperatures? His eyes are going to turn brown soon...oh yea they already are! Go ahead and tell me I'm an idiot....but what next??????

Val,
Your post really made me chuckle. My girl loves the cold, snow, chasing squirrels and birds. However, when we get a deep snow,I do have to shovel a path for her to her "poop" area, and then shovel an area for her to do her business. (it works!)
Sometimes they really can delay the inevitable though!

Val,
I feel for you!
When I lived in Wisconsin, my poor Corgi got the worst of it, she literally disappeared in the deep snow. I had to shovel a 3' x 3' patch so she could go potty.
But it's gotten down into the 50's here, and it rained yesterday, so I know what h*ll is......

Both my dogs love the snow and they come in like frisky kittens after they have been out romping in fresh new snow. But my GSD hates the rain. She just hates it, and gets all bunged up if we have a couple days of rain.
Val… I with your dog, ’m not:
GOING until it warms up.....
I’m headed to Jamaica… you can send your dog down with me and I’ll send my dogs up to you.

And why can't we edit our posts on this board?
I think Will would be much less annoyed with a lot of us if we could edit our posts. Man... Sometimes the fingers and brain just aren't copasetic.
Sorry Will

I just got done chipping ice and snow off my deck/kennel a few hours ago. Its way too early in the season for this. We don't normaly get this until Jan or Feb. The next clown that talks about global warming I'm going to brain with my snow shovel and cut his heart out with a dull ice scraper

And why can't we edit our posts on this board?
To keep everybody honest and prevent the "I never said that" stuff. for the long posts I use MS word spell and grammer check, for the short ones I use the google spell check on the tool bar.

I usually have the opposite problem. A couple of days ago it was -12 and the dogs wanted to stay outside and play. I turned colors so fast! I think they enjoy watching me shiver.
I am smarter than my dog, your just not. |

one of the reasons i've decided my next dog will be a GSD is because of the conditions here: my Dobe HATES the cold; the last 2 days, he's decided he'd rather not spend the time outside in the -20 weather to go poop--he'll just wait until we're all gone, and go in the house. so it's back to the "6' leash, dog bed, kitchen floor" routine for him on monday. and he has plenty of opportunities to relieve himself before we leave, he just gets too cold--no hair coat!!
your corgi tale reminds me of OUR corgi in northern wisconsin when i was growing up (also the first dog to ever bite me --he'd go out in 3' of snow and pretty much get lost in it. he'd jump rather than run to get from one place to another. and we used to make tunnels in the snow, and he'd fall into them when he went out. pissed both him and us off (all that tunnel work for nothing)--but it was funny
