Okay, I read this on another discussion forum, and I don't know how credible it is, but who wants to take any risks?
On the other board, there arere several members feeding Nutro (Max, Ultra, Natural) dry whose dogs are puking yellow bile. One of the women's relatives called the FDA, and was informed that an investigation is being launched into the dry foods now, too.
Just thought everyone should know - scrap the dry foods, too.
The worst part is, and I hate to admit it, this month our regular food was sold out, so we bought...Nutro Natural. My dogs are both puking yellow bile. I feel like such an idiot, why am I not feeding raw?! I threw the bag out - and now I'm coming up with a meal plan for feeding raw. Wish me and my dogs some luck.
EDIT: Apparently the dry is made in a different location, so maybe I'm just being paranoid, but hey, my dogs deserve better food anyway.

Just a thought, but I'd keep a handful of that kibble just in case
it comes down to "your word against theirs". Call it evidence.

That's a good idea - I'll do that. Thanks.
So far I haven't been able to find a really reputable source (only word of mouth) that says the dry is under investigation, but I'm not going to take my chances.

I had two phone calls yesterday from people in my town wanting me to write them a menu....
I just copied off the leerburg menus and wrote down a few do's and don'ts to get them started.
I am happy to see that people are coming around, as well as my vet being supportive of it.

That's what I do, except I also make 'em read Cindy's 50 Q&A.
I emphasize the fish oil and recommend starting simple, with skinless poultry backs if they can, since I've never seen a dog have an issue with that bland, soft-boned part.
I have to say that I too have increased requests for help with a diet switch, including from the local Pug club!
As sad and angry as the recall makes me, I recognize that it will have some good results.

Ooohhh, yes, definitley Cindy's page also.
Thanks
I pretty much tell the the same as Connie. They were really interested in the THK also. So hopefully Ed will sell some more of that. I gave them this site to order from.
I think the hardest part is not OVERtalking the bone thing. This seems to be the MAIN concern. And I know from being on this website, opinions vary and sometimes we confuse newcomers to Raw.
I really do not think there is a wrong way to feed raw if you stick to the basics. Obviously since all of our dogs look the way that they do, we are all feeding "correctly" (for lack of a better word).
The simpler the start, the better IMHO, and then once your comfy with the simple stuff, it is okay to add things gradually. The more gradual the better too IMO. You will learn what your dog likes, doesn't like, what gives them the scooties and what plugs them up when you go gradual.
So to all the newbies, I promise not to confuse you too much as I am fairly new myself and also, I am glad you all switched. The benefits really do outwiegh the risks by far....
I tell people that it is OKAY to grind thier meat if they just cannot get past the crunching of bone, and if they are feeding bones, they really need to be present the first few times so they can learn what "type" of eater thier dog is.
HAPPY CRUNCHING!!!!

Hi Carol,
You posted it once before (and I can't find it now) but I would LOVE to have your glop recipe.
I just got a chest freezer and finally have room to store it

Here is another article I read tonight, a woman got sick eating pet food so her dog would eat it......if this is true....YIKES!!
(I kind of doubt that it is true, but hopefully they print the test results on her.
I believe a dog will eat when it is hungry....YUK!!
