Wow, he sounds like a good cop. I am sure he would be able to identify if it is indeed Cajun seeing as how he seems to really pay attention, not to mention he will probably err on the side of caution. Oh I hope it *is* him.
I'm back after a weekend away from the computer and when I saw Cajun in the "recent thread" list, I though someone had just bumped the thread up for some reason... how AWESOME to see that there have been like 5 PAGES of waiting game after a SIGHTING, and a possible REUNION instead!!! I'm SO thrilled for you Jennifer and can't possibly imagine what you're feeling right now, but hang in there... the wait will be over soon, and most hopefully you'll have your boy back within the week.
YAY!!!!
Cheers, and thanks so much for keeping us all updated - I've thought of Cajun often and sincerely hoped he'd be found one day. Perhaps today is his day...
Thank you Jennifer, Alex, Natalya.. still no news yet. I am waiting patiently as I know police have far better things to do than go look at a dog and things have been started so I am confident they will be finished. I will keep you all updated! I have been resisting the urge to go drive around down town as no matter what an officer has to handle the situation and considering my temper.. if I did find Cajun, underweight, battered, and aggressive.. ah I'd be inclined to make the person responsible rather.. unconscious
Yes but I cannot prove he was stolen. Because he is a dog there is always the possibility that he suddenly became capable of clear jumping a 6 foot chain link fence with barbed wire. He was athletic but not THAT athletic and while I still have the cut gate locks and took pictures of the bent fencing we had to repair it and that is still not proof someone was intending to steal a dog.
My guess is that they cut our gate lock and just opened the outer gate and taunted him out. Cajun was capable of jumping the inner gate, it's only 4'. My brother and Aunt both said they heard barking but it didn't last very long and they were busy and didn't check outside. None of the neighbors saw a thing and several of them were out of town that weekend (Labor Day Weekend)
So while I think it is all very suspicious and reported him as stolen back in September, I am just very lucky this is not being passed off to Animal Control. I told the officer that I don't plan on pressing charges unless he has been neglected, or taking the person to court for vet bills etc. My main goal here is just to get my dog back. I don't think I could press charges anyways because I have no proof of anything.
The person who has Cajun now might not be the person that took him. I will keep you all posted with any updates and I plan to contact the officer this week, but I don't want to be a PITA.
Thanks again everybody!
Mods, this thread got pretty long, I just realized how long it is and that it really has nothing to do with training. If you want to close this, I invite any and everybody who wishes to email(TheAnimalTrainer86@hotmail.com) or PM me and I will post important updates with permission
