Do they write articles in the USA magazine about the Good ol boys club? Or is this one of those things you learn about as you go???? I am a new member Will.
Mondio is small now. How many clubs are there at this time in America? How long has that been operating in America again?
Like I said, I *am* going to discuss this with my club. There has been no mention of this by other members. Will definately see what they have to say and make some decisions.
Michele,
Good point - no, they don't discuss anything in their magazine that would cast any light on their sometimes shady actions.
( The discussions of their leaders not being able to account for several thousand dollars of organization money was a hot topic on many dog training forums for *years* )
But the internet is useful to show people what goes on - no matter how the BOI spins this event, anybody can watch the video and see that a club trial was disturbed by someone that should be censured by the BOI ( which isn't going to happen, I'm sure. )
Maybe a couple of your club members will decide "enough is enough" and form a club under a different organizations wing - that'd likely be easier than finding one of the few Modio clubs around ( unfortunately )

Susan,
For the 32 years I have been around this sport I have always felt the value of schutzhund was not the politics or the winning of events but rather the joy one gets from showing off the relationship between their dog.
No - Lyle (USA Pres) is pretty quick to squash any dissenting opinions that are attempted to be stated in the magazine - including editing and/or disallowing some statements to be made in other USA officer's reports.
Today I sent the following letter to USA - after 32 years I will no longer support this organization.
Sept 23, 2008
United Schutzhund Clubs of America
Mr. Lyle Roetemeyer,
After being a member of Schutzhund USA for 32 years I have made the decision no longer renew my membership or support for Schutzhund USA.
I came to this decision after viewing the Youtube videos of Gary Hanrahan driving over the laid tracks on the competition fields at the Schutzhund event last fall. There is no sane or reasonable excuse for such behavior.
Then after learning that you and others in a leadership positions did not take disciplinary action against Mr Hanrahan I can only assume that Schutzhund USA is a failed and corrupt organization. Your position on this issue reflects a “good old boy” network when it should reflect leadership with emphasis on sportsmanship, competition and enforcing rules of fair play.
This one event will forever carry a dark cloud over your name and the names of those who stand with you that failed to act. Your failure will be how you are remembered in the sport.
I am only one member but I dare say this one event has the potential of infecting many with the same disgust I feel. The average member of USA joined this organization for the love of their dog and the joy of training. Those people look to the board of directors for leadership and to enforce an environment of fair play. You and your board have miserably failed in this endeavor and my guess is there will be many like myself that feel their money is better spent in other dog sports.
Ed,
Great job!
I've thrown away my second renewal notice and I'll be sending them a similar letter soon ( and I've been a member for 24 years, I think )
I hope at least a few more people will take the time to send SchH USA a letter or email and let them know that their "good ol' boy" attitude and lack of ethics will cost them members and ultimately income.
I would like to hear if the USA responds to Mr frawleys letter. I am not a member of USA and after seeing the actions of Hanarahn and nothing being done to discipline rogue members, I will probably never be a USA member.
