Well Steve all I can say is if the poor beast is suffering so, a shot from that .44 will quickly put it out of it's misery. Don't worry you did your best for him.
Kurt, I am totally with you there, the future of Mankind is stunted until we get off this planet and expand.
Robert Heinlein had a famous quote about all of Mankind's eggs being in one basket until we colonized other planets, it was very prophetic.
We should already have a permanent base at the L5 LaGrange point and on the Moon, we should have already been to Mars and back, and we most certainly should be mining the riches of the asteroid belt.
Instead we wasted trillions of dollars on a "war on poverty" , spending money primary on people who refuse to help themselves instead of benefitting all of Mankind.
What a waste.
Rich,
Correct me if I'm wrong here, but doesn't some of the most reserved understated studies predict exactly this is pretty much what is expected in a warming world. Quick swings one way and then the other that generally spell bad news for localized inhabitants and flora before things really degrade to bad as a whole?
Randy,
I haven't seen those studies, though you may be right. What I have seen is people confusing weather with climate. What I have seen is people pointing at every forest fire and drought and hurricane and saying "see, global warming" and other people pointing to every blizzard and late snowfall and cool summer and saying "nope, not happening".
I'm just hoping there won't be a "Global Warming Contest" (like the photo contest) - I'd flunk BIG time!
With that said, Mother Nature has been doing her thing long before we got here, she will continue doing it long after we're gone, and yes, of course we should do what ever is reasonably possible without bankrupting the nation (oops, never mind - too late! :eek to ensure factories, etc... are not pumping pollutants into the air and water.
Theres no global warming here today
Edmonton Alberta Canada -23 C with a wind chill and a snow fall warning white out blizzard conditions....
Sorry not trying to be funny, just sick of winter!
