He's a Doberman.
Random woman: OMG...really! Let me out! I'm afraid of those.
ugh...
Oh, that's funny.

ok, i've had numerous weird comments over the years, but yesterday, having a smoke, with Ike (he doesn't smoke, just puts up with me, BTW) outside a local Mexican restaurant/bar, the owner came up and asked what kind of dog he was.
i told him "GSD--NOT a chiuaua, right?" junior (the owner), just said "oh, ok".
next time i see junior, i'll have to ask him what he "thought" Ike was. could be interesting...

Walking a Rott and a Dobe together often gets us approached (or avoided) by strange people. It's often one extreme to another - parents grabbing their kids and dragging them away before the nasty killer-dogs eat them, or 'yoofs' who pretend to be tough by walking up and petting a 'Rockwhiner'. Jeez. Anyway, here's a couple of classics we've had.
"Mummy what dogs are they?"
"They're Dobermans - that one is very overweight" (Cue hurt look from Rottweiler)
"Mummy what dogs are they?"
"OMG They're Rottweilers. Keep away from them, they're dangerous"
"Why is that one smaller?"
"It's under-fed." (Cue upset look from Dobermann)
Woman and teenage son marching towards us with hands outstretched as we're chatting to a friend by shops. "Are they friendly?"
Me "They are.....I'm not."
(OK, I was having a bad day - but it worked).
"Do they bite?"
"Yes - they're dogs..."
Gaggle of women and out-of-control screaming kids running around charging up to our dogs. "Be careful kids. Do they bite?"
Me "Only loud annoying children who try to grab them".
What a difference it makes when people say 'What lovely well-behaved dogs. Can we say hello to them?' Then we do allow a controlled meeting, and generally these people turn out to be good dog owners themselves.
One comment that did take me by surprise was by a strange couple, again near some shops...
"Wow what a handsome dog. Do you breed with him?" :O

Makes you wonder whether people so many people intentionally don't follow the rules of grammar, or whether they honestly don't know... one assumes they didn't mean that word for word.

Bad grammar can be HYSTERICAL. It's even funnier when not everybody gets why it's funny
Another gem from rural Vermont:
Guy: "Is that a rockweiler?"
Me: "Nope, a Doberman" as I walk away, kinda quick-ish
Guy: "Are you sure it's a doverman? I think whoever you got him from lied to ya 'cause my cousin has a pure rockweiler, with papers and everything, that looks just like that. Ya got papers on that dog?".
Me: "Gotta go..."

Yup. And it's even funnier when there's a giant typo in my post about other people's bad grammar! "... people so many people..." yeesh, TGIF!

I've known this 17yr old girl for about 2yrs now. She is responsible for her age, has a busy pet sitting business, works at a holistic pet food store, has 2 dogs she agility trials with.
Anyways she says to me about a mon ago, I want to get a new dog, I want a GSD and a puppy. I said ok, why a GSD? Are u wanting to do Schutzhund? She replies yes, and I want to do it before I get too OLD. My mouth just couldn't say anything for a moment....

I had some super creepy guy ask me that once...and they didn't make a grammar mistake.....apparently teaching your dog to sit in a backpack is a turn on for freaks....
One from today: Doing obedience in the field in front of my complex. Two college age girls and a guy come up.
Girl 1: Does he bite?
Girl 2: Is he friendly? Can we pet him?
Me: He's friendly, you can pet him *wrangles in dog for controlled petting*
Guy: is he friendly with guys too?
Me: sure?
Guy: even if I did this *strips off shirt and runs in circle*
Me: uh....
Guy: How about this *removes pants and starts dancing*
The girls then insisted they'd never met the guy and hurried away, he followed a few seconds later...I was not aware spiderman underwear came in adult sizes.....for the record, Ryuk is completely okay with mostly naked men dancing in the middle of fields....
