Thanks Barb! Yep, I am talking to all of the clubs around town and it seems like the "fight drive" also helps with the tracking and such.. So I guess my answer will be yes.. But you know.. if none of the sports work out with my new pup.. he will be a great house pet and we will try again later.. Either way is fine with me..
phaedra.. sorry your reg said this month.. Yep I have read your post and I am looking through the Janzhaus site.. I went to over 3 breeders places and had a large list of questions that I was asking.. (everyone on this board helped me come up with).. Some websites looked great but when I got to some places they where very dirty or the flip side is some places felt like a pet store... The Janzhaus site looks great though!
That's why I like this board.. It is really hard talking to local trainers.. everyone has a different story.. most of the time on this board it seems pretty consistent. The trainer I talked at a local breeder told me that all GSD should be working and have a fight drive or they aint worth a #$#@.. His words not mine.. I really just blew him off, and my wife and I will not be back.. Of course now I want to proof him wrong.. but we will see.. Thanks Aaron for the tip!
yeah , it's true I just did register recently. I grew up in Toronto, where I belonged to a schutzhund club. but I just recently moved to the kootenays, and while there are a few enthusiasts here and there, I haven't found anyone suitable for helper work. so, I will definitely be doing SAR, but hopefully more... I think the Janzhaus dogs seem pretty good, but as I mentioned in the other post, I am not knowledgeable about pedigrees at all - and in serious need of advice!
your pup looks super cute - picked a name yet?
This link really helped me out when I was looking at the pedigrees
All of the titles are confusing.. But this makes it pretty easy.. The only think I have not seen yet is a IPO3 (which is now is the international for sh) female.. I am sure they are out there, but in most pedigrees I read I have never seen one.
