HOW DID THEY GIVE A PRESCRIPTION OF METRONIDAZOLE WITHOUT A WEIGHT????!?!?!
The dose ranges from 3-23mg per lb of body weight. I'd be highly suspicious of ANY veterinarian that does not make checking weight a priority. This should be the technician's job anyhow. Please tell me they did bother to check his temp?!?
Find a new vet, that one needs to go back to school for giving met. to a pup without a weight, and ESPECIALLY for vaccinating a SICK, malnourished puppy. That is terrible.

IME over many decades, the tech or the vet nurse usually does this before the vet comes in, along with the temp. I've never had the experience where no one did it, and kinda doubt that it was omitted today. I would bet that the weight is in the chart, because as you say, it was needed to prescribe the med.
So I assumed that they did weigh the pup and the owner didn't ask what the weight was.
The vax -- yep. We read it here over and over and over, and almost always too late to say "no" to the vax.

It's always been that way at any/every clinic I've ever worked at. Sometimes it's even the receptionists responsibility to get it.
I sure hope this was just Nick's oversight, and there is a weight... not a vet handing out 25mg Met tablets to anyone that has a giardia diagnosis.

Hi Nick, I hope your puppy is back on the road to good health. I noticed something from your video that I wanted to comment on, when you got bitten and became angry (been there, done that, it's a natural reaction).
When my dog was a puppy, he was INSANE. All of us had a fresh injury every day for one reason or another. Trust me, that nutsiness will just go away when he grows up. There is no need to add in punishment or even just anger (that can be taken as a funny or 'game on!' response by a dog). Been there and done that too.
Don't react when he 'gets you good.' Know what I mean? Make it boring, not exciting. If he bites your hand, just quietly turn your back, do anything other than give him attention or excitement. Try to let the angry reaction roll off your back. Dogs don't care about your feelings, they are not able to. Use a toy instead, when your eyes stop watering. It's definitely a time to put on your big boy pants. He will eventually learn that biting you is boring, and it's better to get the toy. Move the toy around and be animated, make it more exciting than your hand or your leg. Tying toys to a length of rope or string makes it easier to keep your hands out of the picture.
Dogs are predators and they LOVE making things squeal--don't be a squealing prey item. Keep in mind that they can't think and they really just react to their environment. They can learn though, so make what you don't want boring, what you do want exciting, and ignore the rest. You can do this. Hope you don't mind the unsolicited advice.

I was holding my dog looking at his head. The only thing I saw go up his butt was the tool to grab some stool. Connie our Probiotic is a yeast culture. "Saccharomyces Cerevisiae" They looked a paper from the last time he was in which was almost two weeks ago. If they did weigh him it was on the table he was on. I think that's the way it really went. We will remember to ask next time as we are new to vets. We did ask questions but it felt like he didn't want to respond to them. It wasn't the same person I dealt with last time. I think these dmv's at this vet switch off. It was very reasonably priced which helps us a bit. I think our total bill with puppy shots ect was $87. In Springfield it would be almost $200. I went to them because they saved my pointers life.
Heather just weighed him. He is almost 15 #

if he's 15lbs, he's NOT 5 months old. Guarantee it.

Haha ohh, the memories. You know, Nick, as trying as he is now to your patience, you're gonna miss his antics once he's a dog. The consolation prize is a good buddy.
