But I have sure learned a lot, and would do a lot differently if (lord forbid) it happened again. The open spots on her belly are healing quickly now, drainage has slowed greatly. The T shirt protects her from her own hind legs now. The sutures are going to just come out/dissolve on their own. Vet didn't want to knock her out for just that, and I was inclined to agree. Whenever I see a loose one, I remove it by hand, but she doesn't want tools coming anywhere near her -and that may not ever change. I appreciate everyone here's concern and advice. This was the toughest non-fatal dog trauma I've ever been through. I shouldn't put it in past tense quite yet, either, but the worst should be behind us now. We had our first short game of 2 ball yesterday and that made my Christmas.
