I haven't personally used the Starmark, but I know of at least one other member who owns it and really likes it.
As far as I can tell, function is identical and form is the only difference. I'm not sure how the links connect, so I don't know if they're as sturdy as the Neck Tech, but the people who've used it have said they've never had it come apart.

Thanx, Aaron, I appreciate your input. I think I'll go with that as Texas is a soft dog, and I really don't think hard corrections will be needed. We have only been using a flat buckle and he has been fine, 90 percent of the time, just looking for a little more as he matures.
I'd like the original poster to work her magic on my saint, she'd be flying like
granny in that video posted on here! ROFL
I had some bladder control issues when I saw that!

Since we got into questions about the different types of prong collars. Has anyone used the ones with the snaps/buckle thingy(can't really come up with a better word for it at this point). I was wondering if they are more likely to come off while in use than the traditional style.

I've never had any issues with the quick-release squeeze snap thingie coming apart on the Herm Sprenger prongs.
I can't speak for the other brands. I've never had any luck with non-HS prong collars.

The ones I saw at my local pet store were HS. I just thought I could avoid shipping and what not but didn't want it coming apart on me.

ahhh...the gunpowder! Add that to the "locking jaw" attribute I got lectured about last week when sitting at a street corner with my girl wearing her "hideous" prong...but this is San Francisco...
I can only imagine what you'd hear in Berkeley!
Now, Oakland....they'd be loving it, I'm sure!

I understand you keep her locked in a small dark room and pay no attention to her other than your "yank and crank" methods, too

Yep.
I got the 19 inch for Danke and ended up removing three links.
The first version I posted is *not* going to give you the same correction as a prong collar. There's no tightening and releasing. If you're only giving soft corrections, it shouldn't matter. It's just a smidge below a prong on the dead ring.
I got it for one main purpose- teaching leash pressure.
You can use pretty much any collar for it, but I liked this collar better for it. A choke or pinch would distribute the pressure around the entire neck more, which is great for a correction, and why we like them.
For using leash pressure, I wanted something that only put pressure in one direction, so the dog could be clear of which direction to move. A flat collar would work, but initially, my dog just looked at me as if to say, "Really? You expect me to be impressed? I can do this all day."
Putting the prong on the dead-ring just caused epic confusion, since she associates her prong collar with going for a walk, and immediately pops into the heel position at the slightest pressure.
So, I opted for the "flat collar" version of the Neck Tech.
It still works decently as a correction collar as well, but you don't quite have that "hydraulic" effect of the tightening pinch amplifying your correction. When I have some play money, I'm going to pick up the pinch version as well, because I really do like the look and sturdiness of the design over the traditional pinch collar.
Aaron,
Do you know how small the 19" collar will adjust down to? Mr. Pencil-Neck Mini Mal only has a 16" neck

Yes, Aaron is absolutely terrible to Danke. You should have seen the way he abused Koenig too, after only knowing my dog for 30 seconds. He had the poor dog rolled over on his back.
Poor poor dogs. Mean, mean Aaron.
Disclaimer: This is all said in good fun to anyone who does not know Aaron or I. We just met, and he helped me TONS with my dog. Koenig is kinda a goof, and truly was on his back within 30 seconds of meeting Aaron, but he was only hoping for a tummy rub. Aaron is amazing with dogs, and Koenig adores him.
Great... now that I'm going to work Koenig with some very specific leash pressure I feel like I have to go out and get a neck tech collar! :P
