Sometimes you have to really frustrate them and reward them if they give you any kind of little bark at all.

I would have her sit in the heel position. Ball is in my right hand , holding it up so she would look at me.(up and across my body) I have the very short leash on(with pinch collar). should she not be wearing it as this point? Food wasn't working for contact so I switched to the ball. Really I think it's me. I think I'm confusing her. Hell I'm confusing myself. She always wears her pinch collar during training sessions. So I always need to train something new with no corrections, also with no pinch collar on? I might have to take a step back and start with no corrections or anything. Thus might be my problem.. Maybe?

I have tried this so many times. My wife is better at frustrating her then me. I will try it again. I work a lot of night so the wife does like a gsd in the house with her. A bark command would be great for us. If I can get it down. My patience has gotten better doing all this. I know it just take time. I will try to bark thing again . If she does bark the ball as a reward would prob be best?

Eye contact is something done separately, before “formal” heeling.
Break everything down into the smallest steps possible then put’em together.
When you start combining or teaching things too fast you will run into problems, especially for a newer handler. Doggy will get confused and you get frustrated=crappy training
Correct heeling is very complicated (there is a 3+ hr LB video dedicated to it), even worse if you have to re-teach things.
Do you have a video of you training her?
No corrections at this point.

Yeah, there's probably some confusion. When you use a toy, you have to remember the release to get it. Thats what gives you the focus. Intermitant rewards, look,1step,3steps. That kinda thing. There's a video on here someplace with Cindy and Rush with her holding the ball under her arm for heeling.
For right now though, you should probably keep it in sight. Hold it on your left shoulder. Try releasing her and dropping the ball for her as soon as she looks up. After a few times, she'll hopefully start anticipating the ball dropping and you can add a couple seconds before the release.
When her focus is good on that, you can take a step, etc..
Later on you'll move the ball until its out of sight but she always thinks she'll get it any second now.
I wouldnt correct her at all right now either.

I think that's my whole problem. Trying to
Run before I can crawl. Very helpful information. I will toss the pinch collar and use her regular collar. I will break it down into smaller steps. I think I was trying to rush things a little much. Corrections come in effect after they have a good understanding of the command??.. I kept thinking that working the same thing for a week or 2 was too long

I think we probably all do with different things. Try to remember what it is you want. If it's looking at you, stick to that and get it right before you try to add and don't worry so much about corrections yet, work on the timing of your reward and where and how you give it.

Whatever the dog likes is a good reward. The key is the timing, you have to make it clear the bark is what you want.

Weather is supposed to be good today. Minus the 105 degrees. I'm taking my brother with me to video all of it. Since meeka understands sit, down, stay, come, along with the motions is it safe to say I can use corrections for these? I will get the videos to you guys tonight. Some how. I haven't looked to see if I can upload videos on this site. I will just show you guys what I've worked on the past 6 weeks or so and then we can go from there.
