Oh, man, when I think back on the cars I have owned, I hang my head in carbon-footprint shame. From '65 Mustang to '69 Olds 442 and several other pigs.
But what'd we know? Not to mention that gas was 30 cents a gallon.
Yeah, I had a GTO...... why oh why did I sell it?
< weeps >
Yeah,
The good old days.
Not waiting for our future, but ramming our way into it at 80 miles an hour. Too fast, and too giddy to note any useless caution signs.
All of them good cars guys.........if the future was or had been a straight line.
Someways it's to bad life isn't just the main drag and a double feature at the drive-in with a side of A&W.
All of them were good cars for that.
A/C Cobra. That car made pretty big news in it's class during it's hay day. Pretty good car, if you're on the track AND a racer car driver. Ever drive one Steve? On the road believe me they get old real quick, absolutely more work then it's worth.
Connie, your 442 had 325 horsepower if it wasn't a Hurst. My mom had 3. She still has a 72 red convertible. That's the car I took my DL test in. Her friends thought she was nuts to let a 16yr old drive that car, until she pointed out that she'd know EVERYTHING I did in that car...it was pretty noticeable in the 90's, and she was rather sure word would get back if I did anything too crazy.
My dad has 3 Corvettes...one a 66 that he's had since it was a few mos. old. There's a guy who sends him a Christmas card with a check every year, and he calls and wishes him Merry Christmas and tells him, year after year, "the car is not for sale, David." LOL. It's totally original w/20,000 miles on it.
I guess I shouldn't be surprised that so many of us dog people are gearheads, too. ;-)
I was in school for auto body at the time so I knew better. Plus he was the teacher and had hand formed Aluminum into fenders for it so I was very careful. It was one of the 289 versions.
