Has anyone read Square foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew? It is a great place to start if your space is limited, or even if it isn't, really.
Sounds great! I have space, but very little with full sun, and anyway, I don't want to do the work of a large area.
What I would LOVE is no-bending-over raised container crops.... gopher-free, too!
This deserves consideration then! The soil mixture is critical; 1/3 Vermiculite, 1/4 peat moss and 1/3 compost. If the compost is store bought, it is suggested that you purchase several different brands to ensure a good variety of different types of nutrients.

I hope you like King Corn. I thought it was an interesting watch. Knew some stuff, didn't know some stuff, overall tightened my depressing outlook on what's available to us.

You know, not to dissuade anyone from seeing it, but I actually didn't think King Corn was very good... I mean, the content was in line with all the other food docs of the moment... it just ran a little slow for me. I'm assuming you've read Omnivore's Dilemma? Michael Pollan has a much more engaging way of weaving his shocking agricultural facts into narrative...
Fast Food Nation was a good watch - I especially liked the fact that it wasn't a documentary... it was a story with a heap of very timely references. I have yet to see Food, Inc...

I haven't watched Fast Food Nation or Food, Inc. You could be right about King Corn being slow. I think ALL documentaries are slow. Except maybe The Cove.
Yeah, comparatively, King Corn is rather slow.
Food Inc. moved at a very nice pace. I highly recommend it to anyone who'd like to know what exactly they're putting in their childrens' bodies.
