He's doing really well, Barbara.
He lost a lot of weight, and muscle, over the last 6 days, so he's both very lean, and a bit on the weak side (he stumbled badly this morning trying to bound up the front steps to the door), but other than being a bit slow, he's behaving almost like his normal self - I'd go so far as to say he's being pesky!! I think he's in that funny place where his body still has healing to do, but his attitude is coming back and he's starting to get antsy and bored...
Appetite is definitely back in force - he investigates if he thinks we're doing ANYTHING in the kitchen that might involve him, and he ate a nice normal sized breakfast without any trouble, then hunted around for more. I might start a new thread about nutrition for him, since I'm currently home cooking everything (he's on antacids), and I really want to give him a leg up on filling back out - that fever really ate up a lot of his tone. Digestively I think he's doing great, which should make things easier.
All things considered, I'd say he looks great today.

Please do!
The best nutrition is a profound healing/rehab aid, IMHO.
Now that he is back under his momma's tender, loving care, he will put that weight back on in record time. It is soooo good to hear that his digestive track seems to be unphased by all the meds, etc... He is such a tough guy.
What wonderful news. That's terrific!
Resist the urge to have him do exercise. If he has free air in the lung, you really want him quiet and resting. Lots of little walks. No barking.

There is so much information in this forum; it is a life saver for me and I'm sure others. Not to derail Oscar's thread but hopefully this isn't a dumb question; why is free air in the lung an issue?
Keep getting better Oscar and drive your Momma crazy with your improving health antics.
If the chest wall is pierced, or the windpipe or airways are pierced, then an Xray shows "free air"- a black place (air), where there should not be air. The air should only be inside the
"windpipes" and the spongy lung, not between lung and other parts. A little isn't a big deal. You want whatever caused the "leak" to seal up, though, and not keep leaking.
