I want to try all these berries!!
And I'll have you all know I haven't had a diet soda since Monday. And I made a black bean, rice, and cheese burrito with brown rice for dinner. Regular tortilla though. I'm Mexican, I can't hang with whole wheat ones (Irish is the other half if you hadn't guessed by the last name).

Thimbleberries fresh are pretty freaking awesome. They have a texture like velvet and taste like a sweet raspberry. Sadly they fall apart within minutes of picking so it's pretty rare to find them in any form but jams and jellies.
They tend to grow along forest breaks on the west coast. They're pretty distinct and easy to spot once you know what to look for.

Now I want those too!
P.S. Loooove real jam. Are they pectin-y or do you add something to stiffen up the jam? Not that I really care; I just want it.

I'll check my sources at the end of next month and see if I can score you a jar.
It's been awhile since I had jam. Most thimbleberries come off the plant and dont make it to the bucket. So I can't remember it being pectinish or not.
