Not saying it can't be done Rob.
Heck someplace around here you'll find a lab has been titled.
BC's though have not been bred for that kind of work any more then labs have been.
Anyone that wants to go that route I say fine go for it. But for all practical purposes........
Seems to me, for Spenser, it's more about what he wants to do and a whole lot less about the breed of dog at this point.
And he is the only person that can answer that over riding question.
I have been following this thread from the beginning Spense.
And I've seen you vacillate from one side to the other enough times that it makes me wonder if these are honest questions at all, because they really are almost diametrically opposed.
Find some balance, then think about what kind of dog you want.
LoL Randy you are too funny. My wife laughed when she read whether or not these are honest questions at all. I seriously debate this with her often just like I am here.
That's the whole point of talking this out. If I am unsure of bite sports or a certain breed, I promise there are many other people with interested in similar questions.
This thread was to think together on the matter. It doesn't have to be answered this minute. If you aren't interested in this thread anymore, or don't want to help sway my opinion, well then...
I agree with Randy. Spencer, you really need to figure out what you want to do, and then look at the best dog for the job. If it's just a matter of hanging out with a few different dogs for the next 3 years, you will have a new favorite breed every other day.
Borders and Mals are bred and designed for different jobs. They LIVE for their jobs, so you need to think about that long and hard.
Until you decide what you want to do, you won't have the answer to your question of what dog to get. No matter what WE say, the decision is yours and your wife's.
So I shouldn't, any longer, ask anyone's opinion until I've decided what I can't decide?
The reason why I've narrowed it down to either of these breeds is because of what they have in common; they both are highly athletic, smart, prey driven, and desperate to please (work). They also were both designed for herding and have very high energy.
I don't feel like it's crazy to be gathering opinions from people who love dogs and know more about them than me.
