Miguel, my 17 month old GSD is a showline as well and I have always been surprised by his lack of endurance. I've posted about this a few months ago on how to get him more interested in running alongside me. By running, I mean it's me walking at a fast pace which would obviously be nothing to him. I tried roller blades, biking, jogging - all at a slow pace so that I didn't do any damage to his growth/bones, etc.
He runs like hell on my yard after a ball or with us chasing him or in the snow leaping over huge mounds of snow and never stopping but on the road or in a park in the summer especially, he seems to want nothing to do with exercise at all. He loathes the heat and humidity so I try to avoid exercising him during those times. So we walk at a grandmotherly pace every day, twice a day.
It seems he'll perform when it's something that he likes a lot but, in the end, I know he has couch potato qualities lurking in his gene pool.
