Ok, it works like this - a kennel in Europe has a dog for sale.
Several kennels in the U.S. will then post that dog for sale on their site, and if they are the ones that broker the deal, they get a middleman cut.
It makes the kennel's look like they have a lot of stock to the inexperienced buyer, but you can make them aware that you're onto this little piece of marketing fluff by just asking them outright "Do you actually have this dog at *your* kennel right now?"
Personally I don't like that kind of set up ( as I'd have to take someone else's word on the quality of a dog that I hadn't seen first hand and I have problems doing that ) and would only do it at the request of the client, but I'm in the minority.
< shrug >
There are some kennels with excellent relationships with kennels in Europe built on trust and a long business relationship, but that's pretty rare.
But it's a win/win for each kennel when it happens!
My male is six months old, huge paws that I'm scared to death he is going to grow into and a lap dog mentality. We've tried everything we can think of to interest him in balls. We've tried balls on string, ball on the wall, tried dragging rags, jute tug toys, etc. He will look at it for a minute then stick his nose to the ground to follow some interesting scent that has caught his attention. If he doesn't do that, he comes up and paws for attention and lovies... I'm okay with it...if he isn't interested in it then I'm going to accept it. He loves to use his nose though. The local EMA SAR guys come out here sometimes to track as we have the perfect areas on our property...sand pits, hard surface, thick scrub, woods, steep hills that you almost need rock climbing gear for, ponds etc. They lay tracks for my pup as well and run him thru them. He loves doing it.
Does he play with ball without distractions? This sounds kind of like my guy. I've started playing with him just indoors, letting him see how much fun it is (his drive is pretty okay indoors), and then putting him away in a crate after, and not worrying about outside for now. I've tried a couple of times to throw a ball out in the yard or in the park and he'll go after them now, before he used to ignore them as well...he still gets distracted by scent a LOT but better than absolutely no interest. He's also 6 months old.
I am not sure of how this all works but can you give me your opion on Von Zoeller Kennels?
My personal opinion...steer clear if you are looking for a working dog prospect. I have an 8 month old Gaston/Inka pup which I was aspiring to train for PSA however as w/ Lori, he has worked out to be nothing more than a lap dog and is now on the market for a pet home. There are too many other GOOD breeders out there to waste your time with this one...my pup was supposed to be the pick male.
I purchased a puppy from Von Zoeller Kennels on 4/15/05. I had to put my male down on 2/14/07 for grandmal sezuires which medications and surgery did not help...

I am not defending this kennel NOR condemning them as I have absolutely no experience with them but seizures can be caused by many things, including injury, vaccinations, illness, toxicity, etc (with vaccinations being at the top of the list.)
To blame a breeder for this is not fair, in my opinion.
