Yeah that bothered me a lot. That dog has no padding of its own and was sitting up and doing fast rollovers on an extremely hard surface. Should have been a matted floor. Lousy presentation of hard learned skills indeed. I still think that those tricks rolled into a good presentation would do wonders for kids. A lot of kids don't get to see anything other than the "it's a big, scary guard dog" stereotype.
I was told by my instructor that you don't make large dogs do a lot of roll overs on a hard surface.
Yeah, me too - What was the dog supposed to be doing when it was scampering around him with one leg lower and making all those noises? I couldn't figure that one out <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
I think that's an "injured leg" trick. I've seen the sea lions @ Sea World do things like that. See, a good trainer could put together a little skit involving all sorts of tricks like that.. great for kids!
So long as both dog and handler are having fun (mostly the dog), does it matter that they're cutesy tricks?
