We've tried everything to break him but have basically just learned to live with it by cleaning up after him immediately. He always was very fastidious about "doing his duty". Even as a small pup he would go off in to the blackberry bushes to have his privacy. He was pretty much housetrained in 2 days (he was 8 weeks when we got him) and I sometimes think he is cleaning up after himself. He never tries to eat it when he produces it, only if he finds it still there after a couple of hours. He'll lead us right to it if I pick up the shovel and then patiently wait while I bury it.

I would never use a meat tenderizer - almost all salt and MSG.
