I just remembered something else kinda funny that she said to me. I asked her what she thought wild dogs/wolves ate in nature. She kinda paused and looked at me and said, "They have no choice but to eat wild animal."

Ask her how many hours of nutrition study she did. Then find a Holistic vet who's probably had many times the hours she did.

It's been my experience that vets are learning. My female was at the vets two years ago and she said "Boy, she's a perfect weight, I wish all my pet owners kept their dogs at a nice weight like this. Her teeth are beautiful too,....what do you feed her?" When I told her raw she wrote it in her chart and told me she couldn't "condemn" me for it. (gee thanks) The evidence speaks for itself. I also have a vet in NH that is perfectly happy to feed her raw when she's there overnight. They told me to bring the food in and they'd label it for her. Lots of their patients feed raw. So I think that slowly they're learning and seeing for themselves the excellent results of good feeding. I think that as responsible dog owners we stand out in the crowd and we can lead by example. Eventually some of them will come around if they're willing to "think" for themselves and do some research.

The best thing my vet could say about my raw feeding of Max (my 6-mo old GSD) is that "there is no significant advantage" to feeding raw and that "the risks outweigh whatever slight advantage one might possibly get" by feeding raw.
Well, spending 5 minutes with his own 8-year old black Lab who lays around the vet clinic looking like she is 18-years old instead (overweight, bad teeth, dull coat, patchy skin, lazy) was enough evidence for me of what 8 yrs of "vet recommended" kibble can do to a dog. I guess that's what the new kibble advertising means when it says it "will add years of life to your dog".
Last time I went to the vet, I laughed as I took my pup Max back to the car and told him he would never, ever look like that sorry Lab. Now I suppose that it's possible that kibble is not entirely to blame for turning that lab into a bloated doormat, but I wonder how she would have aged on raw.
I really never discussed it much with my vet, but the great thing is with Max on raw I don't have any pressing reasons to take him back there.

I plan on getting some good documentation on the digestive system of dogs and what not as well as good RAW info. She's so stuck in the "bones will splinter and destroy intestines" realm that its probably gonna take a bit to get her to even read the info.
In all reality, the main thing I want to show her is that raw bones are safe 100%. That'll make me happy. I'm this >< close to bringing in stool samples and letting her examine them at my cost.

Look like I need to "edjucate" myself. Excuse the spelling errors!
just for the general edjufication of the whole board, when someone pisses you off, they "gall" you, not "gaul" you. as in gallbladder, which what the term came from. a gaul is a frenchman.

Well, good luck with that! I applaud your effort for at least trying.

I think I'd strike the 100% part - there's always a possibility of some problem.

fwiw, my breeder is a vet tech and she converted the entire animal hospital she works at to raw. she has great skills of persuasion. she doesn't argue or try to convince, she just lays out the evidence, or even better, asks probing questions about the health records of dogs on raw v. dogs on kibble. people have to have the lightbulb go on in their head on their own schedule.
i'm sure the vets won't be happy when they are no longer doing a land-office business from dogs poisoned by kibble. oh, well. too bad!
