And there Connie goes again, putting the rest of us to shame! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
NO NO NO! I happen to have the advantage of a huge index of articles and sites I've saved over the years as I researched. That's the *only* reason I can come up with specific subject matter quickly.
Bob, I was almost positive he was two, and that's a point in some of the stuff I've read -- over two or not. That's why I asked.
And BTW! Elbows were fine. For whatever that's worth at this point.
Will, I'm just hoping he'll be one of those dogs that can be a total wreck on xrays, yet remain totally functional. The've been wanting to chop my back up for years, but I keep on defying them.......most of the time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

That's worth a lot. I remember reading recommendations for continued athletic activity with mild-to-moderate dysplasia, "if the elbows are normal."
Also, the inflammation from spurs has a lot of no-downside options (remember fish oil?), and the slight degeneration can actually be halted in many cases with natural supplements like glucosamine (which actually helps replacement collagen form).
If there were significant elbow problems, I've read that the resulting gait changes could worsen the hip dysplasia -- and Thunder doesn't have that.
I started omega 3 capsuls about a month ago. I never was one that was a big believer in suppliments if the diet was correct to start with. I'll definatelly look into the glucosamine also. It sure can't hurt now.

Feels like a kick in the gut doesn't it? Went through the same thing a few months ago, really didn't believe it until Will looked at the xrays for me.
Vet said moderate to severe and Will pointed out some OA. So far it hasn't slowed her down at all, I find myself limiting her activity sometimes because she won't.
We have switched to ASR, and I think she will do well. Since I train with Will and crew I'm very comforable, I trust their years of experience and know that they won't push my dog.
Just wanted to say I know how you fell and to hang in there!
Thanks for the encouragement Betty. Unfortunately, no ASR close to here. My head has been spinning all night trying to think of dog sports I could do IF this doesn't go well. Looks like it's down to tracking and herding. LOL! JEEEZE! Just trying to keep my butt motivated to do my ScH tracking is BOOORING! SAR air scenting was sooooo much easier. Point the direction and send the dog. LOL! Herding? Well, If I can find a nice, warm, sunny hill over looking the flock, that's an option.
For the falling down thing, I think I'm going to get myself one of those alarm buttons. "Help, I've fallen, and I can't get up!" I'm old ya know! !LOL! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Just thought of another activity. DOG DANCING! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> I think I'm getting chills and fever!
