I agree with your thoughts on this. A little extra insurance doesnt hurt. Why not do your best to prevent a tragic accident so as not to be labeled a bad parent/gparent. I agree a dog shouldn't be hasseled when eating but who can gaurantee that some youngster doesnt give the dog an accidental treat (gravity) and might get chewed up if they try to retrieve said treat just as fido is about to make off with it.
Shucks Howard! Between the dogs, the Dyson and yeah, even the gkids, not much gets to, or stays on the floor long. I think the gkids get a little nastier then the dogs when The've got a chicken bone.
