I think the whole "ribs easily felt" rule is a nice guideline for most breeds, isn't it? If you can feel a dog's ribs without difficulty and it has a nice tuck then it is usually a healthy weight- or is this oversimplifying things?
I'm just going by my own experience with border collies- you can line 10 of them up in a row and get 10 completely different body types.
And Jeff, I noticed your new signature...congratulations! Just when was it that you became smarter than your dog? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

..... I guess you didn't see the "hidden" secondary joke?
I saw it!! Me, me! (Hand waving wildly)
Once my dog pointed out the misspelling ("you're" is spelled "your"), then I got it!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

"hidden" secondary jo........oh, *&^%$&!*#^%
Well, that's a disappointment. I am just so used to having a lower IQ than my dog (being owned by a border collie, who is smarter than most honor students, apparently) that I got excited for Jeff and his accomplishment. Note to self- STAND UP. The jokes are going over your head! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
*gives Connie a gold star for being so darned observant*
Cody is in both pictures. Same dog. Just to clerify that...
Thanks Connie, I realize it's in the rules now. Oops... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
Jeff, the spelling part IS funny <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />. But, the lack of a semi-colon separating two complete sentences that could stand on their own is NOT funny. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

OK did anyone else catch that?? What is an American Working Line GSD??
My german showline male is 66lbs ish, maybe he gained weight since he started eating better, but I doubt it, he's 70 at most, but he's about 24.5" tall so he's the right height, he's stocky and muscular, he just has a smaller "frame size" than the 85lb GSD's. As long as the dog's healthy n the right height, weight doesn't make much of a difference.
