Have you tried contacting the breeder? They may have seen similar cases and could provide helpful information.

I did not keep him at the hospital because it would of costed atleast $500. I took him home, and watchd him carefully, he seemed to improve a little and by the morning he was drinking water again and not throwing up. But he still had wattery dirreah. I took him to the vet, and he said I should leave him with him till Monday to be on IV's. So I left him with the vet. The vet told me that he doesn't think it is Parvo.
Thank goodness he doesn't think it's Parvo, and you did the right thing. A puppy can die from dehydration very quickly with watery diarrhea and the vet can support him with IV fluids. You did right.

Thats terrible that the puppy is sick.
No one wants to see a sick puppy. That being said after going through the posts of several days isnt this the puppy that you picked up from Gunbil?
Have you contacted the breeder and run this by him?
i hope it all works out for you.

Matt,
I understand that the cost is high, but dehydration is a big puppy killer and you did the right thing in having them keep the pup.
I hope it comes out ok for you, keep us filled in on how it comes out.
Scott!!
C'mon, this is serious, when it's a puppy's health, let's stay on subject and positive, ok? You're a bigger guy than this and while we all made note of that breeder's nutty statements and asine behavior, it doesn't make our concern for Matt & his pup any less sincere.
So cease fire, ok?

You're absolutely right, Will. I had actually meant to also write something to the effect of "..sorry to hear your pup is sick and I hope he gets better...", but wasn't able to go back and edit it. I truely hope the pup gets better, and Matt does whatever is necessary (and reasonable) to achieve that. I'm sure he'll do whatever is within his power to do so. Coming here for advice was a good place to start.
My comment was not directed at the pup's health specifically. I just found Charlie's post ironic, given the content of various other threads regarding Matt's breeder.
My apologies.

Matt-
Sorry to hear about your puppy. I hope he is doing better. I had a similar situation with my puppy when she was about your puppy’s age. She would throw up and have diarrhea. She also was a bit sluggish and just not herself. I kept bringing her to the vet over and over and he could never find anything wrong. She would get better, then it would start up again. The vet never found anything wrong. Finally, I emailed Ed with her symptoms to ask his advice. He told me to put her on a raw diet. I did not believe her problem was food related because she had been on the same food for weeks and this developed later. But after it went on for so long I was willing to try anything, I finally took his advice. She never had another problem, unless I tried giving her commercial dog food.
I also had a puppy with parvo. His first symptoms were he was really lethargic and would not eat a thing. I even tried tempting him with something really good and he just turned his head away. We knew something was wrong and took him to the vet. He had parvo and was hospitalized for several days. He did make a full recovery.
We never took our puppy anywhere except out on walks in our neighborhood. We did not know how the puppy could have possibly come into contact with parvo. My vet told us that parvo is very hardy and it can live on the ground for months. Just walking your dog can bring it into contact with parvo, possibly even in your own yard. So I wouldn’t beat yourself up about bringing your puppy out—they can pick it up anywhere.
I see that your puppy just had vaccinations. Any possibility that he is having a reaction to the vaccination?
Good luck with your puppy. Keep us posted.

Yes, he has had two vaccinations. I don't think its a reaction, because the second vaccination was given last Monday.
Thanks for your concern everyone. I am supposed to goto the vet tomorrow afternoon and he said if everything goes well, the pup should be good to go home.

Several years ago my pup of around 7mos started to throw up violently and had really bad nasty diareha. I took him to the Vet immediately. They did a full CBC and Parvo even check for worms... nothing. They gave me another round of wormer just in case and yes it did the trick, it turns out that Hookworms can be deep in the intestine and hard to de-worm.
I hope it isn't Parvo, but sometimes the culprit is right there even though not currently present. Good luck, keep the spirits high, even though it is hard.

Matthew,
I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I had a sick puppy just 6 months ago, I know how hard it is, it's amazing how fast you fall completely in love with the little rascals. Don't blame yourself, puppies sometimes just get sick.
I hope all goes well and she gets better soon.
