C'mon folks.
This is China - they've murdered *MILLIONS* of their own citizens over the past 60 years, committed genocide against the country of Tibet, etc, etc. - why the heck does anybody think for a second that they'd care one bit about killing animals?

Saddest story I heard was from a nurse who traveled to China for volunteer work. Chinese woman had twins. She asked the nurse who was strongest. Nurse, not knowing what was to happen, indicated which infant was more healthy, but gave the mother assurance the other child would catch up in time with proper nuturing. Mother wrapped the weaker child in cloth so tightly the child was not able to breathe, suffocated and died. China has limit on number of children women can have, this is what prompted the mother's actions to choose between the two. I can not begin to imagine what the nurse (or mother) experienced. Truly disheartening.

It is disgusting, but not, by far, the most disgusting thing the country has done. Here is a LA Times story from last month

Everytime someone shops at WalMart, where almost everything is made in China, they're helping to fund the Chinese military which presently numbers over 2 million. Shopping at Sears for some Craftsman tools, saw they were made in China as well. Shopping for shoes, made in China. I always look to see where an item is made and if it's in China, I won't buy it if at all possible. The U.S. is feeding, clothing and enabling their military by the things we buy from them. The killing of those dogs was barbaric, and anyone who kills a dog in that manner has a barbaric nature. Someday they will come after us and we will have helped them do it.

I grew up in communist country and I am tired of this. I just said simple and easy.. They do not care how they do it. Why should they be more human to animals if they do not care about their people. that is all. This is reality and they choose to do that.. they choose to live like that.. My country lived like this for decades and my brother just like other young people managed to do this. Managed to send us free form this nonsence.
That is all i wanted to say, "When you want something you find the way, if not, you find the excuse why not to do it"
Sorry did not want to get all political but I had the "honor' to live in some very nasty "c#$%" like this and I am tired of excuses.
Live happy
China is not child killin terrorist country. If you get a chance to see some of the video footage from these places so called orphaniges.. well you may change your mind. It made me sick. And I do not have any desire to buy anything Made in China. After the Communist fell down the new government did not hesitate to educate us how it goes in China. Yak.
I hope and pray things have changed.

My husband is from Europe and he was adamant about not purchasing things in China. I told him that Walmart only had things made in the USA. He told me I was mistaken (mind you, this conversation took place six years ago). I didn't believe him and we went to Walmart and lo and behold almost everything was made in China!
There was a documentary on PBS a few months ago. Unfortunately, I can't remember the title. It pointed out how Wlamart DESTROYED Rubbermaid. It was REALLY, REALLY discturbing.
It also mentioned how Walmart, singlehandedly, fueled the made in China boom. It showed a province in China which (if memory serves correctly) was countryside a mere ten years ago. Now, it's a booming port and manufacturing city.
They also interviewed a small business owner from Kentucky (?) who said that Walmart told him he needed to reduce costs. How you ask? Why, by moving his manufacturing business to China!
I shop at Walmart, I won't lie. However, if I can find the same product at a reasonable price, even if it is higher, at a local business, I will purchse it there.

Hi Woody,
You make a very intillectual argument and some very good points, and, of course you are right on most of what you say about other countries including your own.
Here in Scotland we're perfect of course, besides having the tag of the most violent country in the world, but that aside per head of population we must have more morons here than the US and China put together :-) one of the reasons I'm leaving soon. Idiots here think it's fun to stab and slash people just for going about their daily business, or having fun on a night out with friends.
We have high unemployment here, not really because there are no jobs, but more because the people here think they are too good to get their hands dirty and do a job, any job. This is why countries like China are becoming leaders of production so don't blame them blame US! We have a lot of polish immigrant workers here because they work so long and so hard that employers here now do not want to employ Scots/British if at all possible.
I firmly believe that a good shot of WW3 is on the cards and that will be an opportunity to sort out all the problems everyone has with everyone else and be done with it.
Lost the point of my post now :-) but.....
Get your bunker ordered now :-)
