Deja Vu!!!! Only my dog is a GSD. Too big to get under the couch, but he went under a coffee table instead. Our solution was to put his prong collar and leash on him. Strangely enough, there are no wild puppy incidents when he knows we can easily grab the leash and correct him. He's 8 1/2 months old now and we still leave a line on him *most* of the time. As I recall, our wild puppy incidents happened between about 8 pm and 9 pm. Haven't had one in a long time.
When he gets a little older and knows the commands, you might try puppy pushups. Sit. Down. Sit. Down. Sit. Down. For our dog, it's like pushing a reset button when he starts to get a little full of himself.

OMG...too funny that as I was reading this, my 5 month old pup started running around like a maniac! Of course, then she had another tooth fall out so I can see why <img src="http://www.leerburg.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I just take her outside for a romp when she gets like that and tells me in her own way that she needs some exercise NOW!
