i emailed it off to my family - i think i'm the only person in my family who doesn't still ride horses!
sad story: the horse i had in childhood died on me, something in his stomach twisted one day, i don't recall the details, but apparently it's pretty common. my parents finally talked me into a ride again when i was about 15/16 or so, they said i could ride "old ladybird" because she was calm and lazy.
we made it out the driveway and she rolled over on me. after i got my leg out from under her, the decision was made to put her to sleep as well as she was ancient and couldn't get up. looking back, she probably should have been living out her days with nothing but two year olds walked around the front yard on her...
Thank you Ed for that very moving video. It is a video that I hope makes it's way around the globe. The strength, the power and the beauty of women! On this day, matched only perhaps by the dozens of horses they saved!
Did anyone else notice that when the women successfully got the horses to the other side, there was no ego-driven back-slapping fanfare?? The women wanted only to save the horses. And they did. God, women are awesome!
OK, does anyone know the name of the song behind the video? It's really a cool sound. I know it said Vangelis as the artist but I cannot find the name of that particular song. Anyone have any knowledge of this artist and what the song might be called??
Okay, how many of us just ordered “Summon the Heroes” by John Williams and the Boston Pops? I know I did, and it will be with a big lump in my throat when I listen to ‘Conquest of Paradise' and visualize the haunting video. Simply beautiful…
Heartbreaking, really <:-( Those poor horses only needed a LEADER and they could have SWUM all of them to safety on day one...
Geeze, has no one in The Netherlands ever read Exodus in the Bible, or "The Pied Piper of Hamelin", or "Misty of Chincoteague" (!) like every elementary school kid in America has ???
