Desertion can be many things ,and since they say, they were "sleeping" and did not "hear" anything even tho the baby was "next" to them , you can say it was desertion" by also proving that their might be drugs involved or they simply were not there.Just because they say they were next to the baby ,that does not mean the prosecutor believes it and charges them with what he believes happend (probably has info or evidence to go by that.Like you said their is always more to the story in these cases that are not told to the public or if they have we are not seeing it in that article.

Why, oh why, does everyone with an IQ of approximately fifty have to have both babies and pit bulls? Of course, the media has to specify "pit bull," as if it makes a difference at six weeks old what breed a puppy is. Babies' toes are so tiny at that age that any dog, or cat, or bird for that matter, could've done this. The parents had to be ignoring the child's crying, though. No way was there no clue that this was occurring. Baby cries, you go see what's up. Puppy is quiet, you definitely go see what's up. Quiet puppies are always up to something. However sad this is, I will be very close to losing all faith in humanity if they kill this puppy. Prosecuting the parents is great; they let TWO babies down.

I agree, I hope they do not put this puppy down,a bad judgement that would be.I sure hope this little baby recovers.Another baby in the system, like we don't have enough.I wish these loosers would quit having babies.

Angelique and Jenni, you are absolutely right. You know...these losers obviously had IQ's lower than the speed limit and were either stoned or had left that baby alone with a weeks-old puppy and are lying about it. And of course, they had a pit bull. I hope they rot in jail, but they probably won't.

Yep, Ruth, "of course" they had a pit bull. This APBT hysteria is getting to the point where I'm almost embarrassed to be in the APBT owner category. Why do stupid people ruin everything for everyone?!
I think that since I pay an extra $30 a year for my dog to keep his testicles, that the fathers of children who end up like this poor baby should have to do it too. I know for a fact that my dog is less careless with reproduction, and that he is far more intelligent.
Guys-don't freak. I just said "fathers" b/c I was making a male to male comparison. The mother here is just as stupid.

Jenni,
Thanks for clarifing.. As a guy who has kids and grown ones at that, I was hoping that you were going to hold both responsible here. I think they both should be shot and hung but hey I am a Texan and think that we need tougher laws for many things.
Too bad for both the baby and the pup though, it was niether of thier faults but I am willing to bet that they both will have to carry the scares from this the pup may not see many more days and the little girl will never have her toes again. Too bad!!

So many people in this world should spayed and neutered ,I don't know why we focus all on dogs and cats for that.I'm tired of my taxes going to the loosers.

Jay, I think I like Texas. My sister said the other day that we should move there b/c it's one place that we may not stand out as being so, um, extreme.
I cannot imagine one person being dumb enough to leave 2 babies together alone, let alone 2, but lo and behold, we stumble upon this pair of geniuses. I hope when they die that their brains are donated to science.
