He has been recieving alot of negative media coverage locally.
The Kings team has been running away from this story and pretty much keeping him hidden from the press during practices. When asked about this issue at a press conference, they said they were there to talk about basketball. A radio station collected 5,100 pounds of dog food and put it in front of the gates to his mansion. I hope he finally gets the message!
Stars can be idiots too. This just proves that because you have talent in one area, doesn't mean you have common sense.
I help with breed rescue for Louisiana Catahoula dogs. I read on a breeder's website that a very famous actor (who wasn't named) bought one of her pups, and she rejoiced because she thought it would be well taken care of, and live a life of luxury. The actor picked his puppy up in person in a private jet.
A few years later she managed to get the dog back. It was emaciated, filthy, unsocialised and terrified. She couldn't believe it.
Just goes to show that money doesn't make the man. No dog deserves that kind of life.
I live and work here in Sacramento, and I have to admit that I am very happy with all the negative media attention that Ron Artest has received. This is a really big deal, specially from a city where the NBA team rules and its stars are titans. For once it is nice to be proud of our local media.
Also, I was against Ron coming to Sacramento for Basketball reasons nice to know now I can dislike him personally too!
Everyone should try to be as good as their dog thinks they are.
Jason, Thanks for that "home court" point of view!
Any chance that you could post the contact information of the local Animal Control folks so that concerned forum members could drop them an email or give them a call?
Bad publicity....it's priceless!

I live about 4 blocks South of the Placer County line. Placer County Animal Services has a phone number listed as (530)886-5500. There are 2 facilities listed: one in Tahoe and one in Auburn. The one in Auburn is closer and it's web site gave the following information.
Mike Winters, Program Manager
Phone: (530)886-5537 mwinters@placer.ca.gov
Cindy Leonard, RVT Animal Care Supervisor cleonard@placer.ca.gov
Thank you for providing that contact information, I have sent Mr. Winters an e-mail. Hope he gets lots and lots so he will do what is in the best interest of those poor dogs.
That guy's a real man - first he starves his dogs nearly to death then he threatens/beats up on a woman? Hmmm, I wonder if he kicked any puppies on his way to the courthouse.
