Well that's what I get when I get on the computer late, gee I didn't even see the age, how pathetic...
Anyways , Sandy if you read my post carefully, I am not saying that dog is afraid to bite or wouldn't bite a guy w/out the sleeve, but I know from experience that he loves the sleeve, my young male is the same way ,he will bite our helper with or without but when the sleeve in right there he is focused on it, and now that I see he is a year, it makes sense, just because a dog is a bit sleeve focused , never means he won't bite without.
He looks like a great dog, and like Mike said with lots of potential, I can see that.A dog at a year showing what he does now, heck ya he's a dog with LOTS of potential.
So Sandy don't put words in my mouth, your reply to me did not even match one thing I said

a dog that is man focused does not dictate that the dog is stressed, it all depends what foundation the dog has
Read my words. That's why I said it "can" dictate that the dog is stressed, hence, it shouldn't be the only thing that matters.
I also have that type of dog who will stare at a sleeve and ignore the helper. But if he barks for it, he is barking *at* the helper; and he's shown himself to be civil without equipment.

Nice pup (or should I say adolescent?). Good luck on your sale and someone I am sure will be pretty pleased with him.

If dog is too concerned about the man it can indicate he is too stressed to have fun.
Ya I read it, and that statement has too many things wrong with it for me to write out what they are, don't care to argue with you, I have more important things to do...
And to add, I was talking about when the sleeve is on the ground not on the helper, how hard is that for you to figure out, obviously if the sleeve is on the helper ,he'll bark "at" the helper gee U think?

Umm...just wondering, can we talk without that tone? i.e. "how hard is that for you to figure out" really comes off the wrong way, especially since you are arguing with me against something I didn't say. I don't know if you intend it for that or not--but I'm not trying to cause trouble with you.
I'm talking about the sleeve on the ground and dog is too concerned about the helper to look at the sleeve. Now it can be either a strong dog or a weak dog; it should only be part of the big picture. As everything is. And that is what my comment meant--it "can" indicate a dog that is too stressed by the helper, it "can" also indicate a dog that puts no value on the sleeve. Just as it "can" rain later on, but doesn't mean it will. You needn't take the comment personally as I have encountered far too many people who will put value on a dog only if it looks at the man when the sleeve is off, and will immediately write off any dog who is interested at the sleeve on the ground.
As the owner of a dog who does the 'back and forth' thing, I'm sure you should be able to understand, so I don't know why you're trying to argue with me when it seems like we're on the same page.

So Sandy don't put words in my mouth, your reply to me did not even match one thing I said Angelique, I wasn't addressing your post so couldn't possibly be putting words in your mouth, except to answer your question about the age of the dog. I was simply giving my personal impression and observation of the dog at work, not based on my knowledge of SchH, which is practically nil and no "hands on", but based on a basic knowledge of a dog's behavior in general. Another impression I had was when the dog turned toward Mike when he "stung him with the whip" (as Mike posted). I liked that reaction in the dog. I'm not even sure what that's called in SchH lingo (is that called "civil"?), but I like a dog that won't take crap from someone, and is unafraid and willing to fight when threatened.
Anyway Angelique, again, wasn't addressing anything you said except the age question, just giving my own impression of the dog, which was good, I feel that the dog is brave and spirited. I tend to read your posts with interest and have learned from your posts about SchH because you give good details.

Kristine,
I think through writing I suck, and maybe when I read things, I suck at it too, sometimes I take it to heart. The way you responded did sound sarcastic to me, when I was simply pointing out my mistakes and saying that my male behaves the same way, mine is a bit locked in prey. That is why I pointed out what I noticed on the bite work video.I was not critizising the dog, more like comparing to mine. I know nothing about Mals but always willing to learn.
Anyways, trouse? ( I think that's how it's spelled :blush

It's ok Angelique, no problem. Just a misunderstanding.
Edited to add: I still would like to see you someday in Vegas, with my pup and to see your dogs and your club.
