DDR or American lines aren't your only options. In fact, there's not really such a thing from what I understand as a "DDR dog" because the lines have all gotten crossed. Generally now GSD's fall into the "Working" "Showline" and "American" categories. Working dogs are made up of DDR, West German and Czech lines. Showlines are made up of the West German Showline dogs, but it doesn't sound like that's what you're after. And American line dogs are crap I wouldn't focus specifically on DDR, because as it was discussed recently in another thread, the breeders who say their dogs are DDR lines are generally just using it as a marketing ploy, because as I said before, there's not really such a thing as a pure DDR dog anymore. There's plenty of healthy good-hipped lines out there, some will have more DDR in them than others.
Jason, I could not pull up the thread you had in your reply, was it about your litter?
I think Dennis should look at your pups, for agility and anything else , for sure it would be a great pup to get out of Spy.

Hehe....everyone's fine with the Dam of Jason's litter....it's the Sire that everyone lives in fear of!
Spy is a sweety-pie. I remember her from the 2003 Flinks seminar at Leerburg's. Angie, one of the gals that helped out in the kennel, worked her with Bernard. They both did nicely.
there is a LOT of garbage on the internet so be careful! i personally would go to http://www.germanshepherddog.com (which is the USA website-United Schutzhund of America), and look for clubs/breeders/trials close to you, then spend some time checking them out. ask questions. kind of work outward from there. believe me, the time and effort you put into this will be well worth it when you actually make a purchase!!
there are a lot of ppl saying they have "100% DDR" lines just waiting for a newbie to come along. i agree with the others: there really aren't "DDR" dogs much, if any, more. marketing.
and lastly--where'd your dad get his current GSD? if it's so nice, maybe start from there...?
I e-mailed my father's breeder. Just haven't heard anything yet. They are located in Ohio and I'm in Georgia. I am trying to find somebody closer to home, and if that doesn't work, I'll start spreading out my search.
