Someone recommend Sojourner's dehydrated diet as an alternative but have not checked it out.
Funny, I already made the switch from THK to Sojourners BEFORE this PETA flap. I've found the Sojos to look and smell much more like real dehydrated food (lots of colors, not just different shades of green like in THK). I speak of Europa, which is the veggie-only mix. I use it along with RMBs and couldn't be happier.
The knock against Sojos is that it's not a complete food as is THK Verve, Force, or Embark. You still need to add meat, so it wouldn't be a good option as a backup for when the freezer empties.

I did it. Just said I would be placing my usual order *one more time*, but that I'd need an email back before I would place another one, assuring me that zero of my buying dollars would go to PETA.
I also suggested some orgs I've researched carefully (and support).
I'm glad this became known. We can indeed vote with our dollars. Thank you guys for the info.

I just went to the Sojos website and in the paragraph on the right side it says click here to learn more, I did that and I was kind of shocked to see that they recommend a once a day feeding for adults and geriatric dogs. Did I misunderstand that in some way?
Not that it is a big deal, but I would never feed my dogs once a day unless I had to fast them for some reason.

I doubt THK entered into that business relationship lightly. The 'official' response posted earlier says as much.
THK has shoveled money to PETA in the past, they will continue to do so in the future. The principals of THK just won't be as public about their funding.
The good thing is that I caught this thread before I opened that big, new bag of Evolt. It is only a 40 mile round trip to return it.
Remember, one of PETA's goals is the extinction of dogs and all other companion animals. If you decide to not support that goal, let THK know.
Has anyone heard from Ed or Cindy on this? I would think that, as distributors, they would really carry some weight with THK if they sent a similar cease and desist letter.
Edited to add: I have just e-mailed Ed on this subject, with a link to the thread...not sure how recently he or Cindy have been to the board.
Very interesting...I have used THK in the past, but my EPI girl can't handle it well. Consider looking into Urban Wolf - http://www.urbanwolf.cc - it's a grain free mixer (must add meat/oil) I really like it and have had great success with it. If anyone is interested I have a good online supplier too.
