She's a 30 lb. greyhound/APBT mix. She's not exactly built for balance tricks, but she has learned a few others so her muscles should be developed enough that she can do it.

I'm so excited I'm about to jump out of my skin!
I figured it out tonight and she "got it" in 2 minutes!
I took a ramp I use for flyball training and stuck it against a walk in a corner. I put a bin on the other side to make a channel. I used Abby's "back" command to simply back her up the ramp. Then I turned it around so it was steep. She backed right up into a handstand. It's too easy! Why didn't I think of that before??!
It's only first half of the trick - I still have to wean her off the ramp. That should be simple with a clicker.
It's pretty amazing -- once I figured out how to communicate to my dog what I wanted, she learned a physically difficult trick in 2 minutes. I love my dog.
I ordered a new camera. IF I figure out how to use it, I'll post photos ASAP.
I gotta start clicker training! I have a work related trick I have been thinking of teaching (easy compared to a hand stand!). When I am ready, I will post it to you for advice in breaking it down!
Cool your pooch is such a quick study, and kudos to you for making sure she could easily understand the progressions required for reward.
Cheers,
Jennifer (and her dog's really average trick repitoir!)
