From the Klatolkin site:
They are now making it illegal in Germany to work a dog on a bitesuit.
Is this true?

I'll be getting the pup by July, and I'm also thinking about another little female from Jinopo. Any thoughts on that? By the way, I think somebody else complimented your dogs but I think too they're just awesome!!!
Please if anybody has seen Chasinta's page let me know what you think.
Thx.

Welcome Jewel!
You sound like a fantastic addition to the Leerburg website and I look forward to hearing more from you.
I'm not sure how someone who is blind goes about accessing the internet, but to start a new topic:
If you go to the "Forums List" tab at the top of the page and click it, you can then choose a forum to post your topic in. Once you click on whatever forum you choose, at the top of the page you will have a tab that says "Post New Topic."
Hope this helps. There's a forum for "New Members" that you should repost this in so that everyone can say hi!
Welcome to the board!

I just bought a dog from Jiri at Jinopo Kennels in the Czech Republic and have studied the bloodlines extensively, so I can offer a little insight on a few questions:
The Pohranicni Straze Kennels is still run by the Czech Government/Border Patrol and is not and never has been, privately owned. Jiri Novotny was the director of ZPS for 21 years (As well as a Border Patrol Officer/Police) and made all the decisions regarding litters, evaluations, on hundreds of dogs, if not more. He has a TON of experience and a background that few people have been lucky enough to have been exposed to.
ZPS dogs were known as very hard, real life service dogs that were used extensively protecting the Former East Germany (DDR) and Czech Borders. Also, it was no accident that a lot of DDR dogs influenced the line or were brought into the bloodline as needed or wanted. Look at the pedigrees......
Since Jiri left ZPS in 2001 the quality of the dogs produced from that kennel have not been very good, at least not as good as when he was there as the director. The name has changed as well to "Od Policie Ceske Republiky".
To have a dog from the ZPS kennel, which the dog would have to be at least 6 years old now, is a desirable dog to have indeed if you like Czech dogs. You had to have a very good Stud Dog or Bitch to breed with one of the ZPS dogs and then get a puppy out of that kennel name.
If I remember correctly, Chasinta ZPS was imported by JC Weber out of Florida and is a beautiful black sable with a SVV1 title.
You should feel so lucky to get a dog like that the way you did, I wish you the best of luck with her in the future.

es indeed Art, I feel blessed. My and y significant other just bought a house in a neighborhood that is a little rough. The woman who previously owned the house got car jacked. Anyway, we were looking for a dog that would protect and so we started searching. We looked at Akitas, AB, Dobies, GSD's (showline, we didn't know there were working lines per se), AB's and we finally found the czech gsd's. We researched and asked around, talked to breeders about young dogs and everything was outrageously expensive! Finally, we contacted Ramona Helmer from Sapphire Shepherds about a 8 month old female. But after looking closely at her page we saw tha Casinta ZPS was up for adoption because the former owner passed away. So we talked to her, picked her up and now she's here in Minnesota. We drove to Montana to the border of Idaho, we hit a deer and my car was destroyed but finally got her. Lucky us! Now we're buying a puppy from Klatolklin (male) and eventually we'll buy a female from Jinopo . I want to learn everything I can from people in this forum. Everybody seems to know so much .
thx.

I got a puppy from Klatolklin Enrique. They are great people, super honest and very communicative. I got this pup... http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/496527.html. She is also from Axel. She is almost 3 months old now and is a great little pup with no fear and alot of bite in her. Enjoy you new pup and feel confident with that kennel. Nice folks.

Cool, it's good to know. I've talked to them and they seem really nice people. I hope I can eventually work my pup. I guess Axel has Mink line on his mom's side, and I hear people say the offspring could be "nervy". What does that mean? Ange, I hear you have Mink, could you explain about this bloodline a little? I'll do my search also.
thx
