Now that ALL the crappy dog food is recalled, people might be forced to switch to something decent I want to go to WalMart and see the totally empty shelves. LOL!
But seriously, what about people that don't watch/read/listen to the news?! I feel very very sad for their pets.
That's what I'm thinking Carol. If the problem is the new supplier of wheat gluten, it might be affecting quite a lot of formulas!
See... I think the problem is that the food contains wheat gluten in the first place.
What would happen if all the dog food commercially produced in the USA was recalled? It's too funny to think about - and at the same time, devastating, I can imagine.

Maybe it's processed differently for semi-moist foods.
The story is very slow getting out. It scares me that the news stories have the names of additions to the recall list before the manufacturer's recall site does. (I know that because I set up a Google news alert to email me the news stories as they appeared, and I saw the lag.)
What this highlights to me personally is the relative safety in variety. We who feed raw could feed some kind of tainted meat. But when we are buying fresh food all the time, it seems so much more likely that we might feed it just once or twice and give the dog's system a chance to recover and fight back. The overwhelming nature of feeding a food that has something wrong with it, over and over, every day.......

I better write my glop recipe down.....hee hee
Yeah, your right, my parents would buy patties because my mother has a heart attack when I feed chicken (bone-in). Does not even like me to talk about it.
But that's why you can use her dog as a T.V. tray and not mine......yikes (sorry mom)

If that happens, I am going into the all-natural chicken business.....
Me too. The natural food store where I get my dogs' meats -- the butcher told me yesterday that he was suddenly grinding up more whole chickens for customers.
That tells me that some people are jumping into raw in a way that they might be comfortable with as they learn.
