Unless the bungi cords are teeth proof I would not do that, Louanne you're funny, i am picturing my young male going in a crate with bungis all over and taking a bite and POW all over the place the bungis are snapping from evey direction...have you ever used that method? I am not saying it would not work but with a gsd, they would waste no time to chew those off.....
Hey guys. Tried using my dog cage to crate train him. He did well! I figured that it was the lack of ventilation of the plastic crate that was giving him a problem. Though he still has episodes of whining, it has improved over yesterday. Did pretty well considering it is only his 3rd day with me.
Update: I tried walking him tonight, he took to the collar and leash with some difficulty for the first 10 mins. Then on the street he was a bit hesitant with his walks and panicked when 2 pesky dogs of my neighbors started barking at him. Felt sorry fot the little rascal and calmed him.. 'Twas a 5 min. walk. I'll go and take him for a longer walk to tomorrow...all things done in baby steps ey.
No I haven't tried it. I only have plastic type crates, as I think that they are more den like, than the all wire version. And I have (4) different sizes, so we've just been working our way up.
Good point about the chewing though ... our pup has done that with his flexi-leash ... so I've "hockey taped" it back together. Hockey Tape is much more flexible than Duct Tape and can be colored coordinated, too.
